Marcel Boer | Photography Books

Marcel Boer is a German photographer and publisher whose practice moves between documentary photography, snapshot aesthetics, fine art and contemporary fashion. Born in 1993 in Freudenberg, Germany, Boer developed his photographic language from a background in skateboarding and analogue photography. He is currently based in Europe and works from Ibiza, while remaining available worldwide.

Boer's approach is rooted in spontaneity, natural gestures and an instinctive relationship with his subjects. Rather than relying heavily on staged compositions, he seeks to capture authentic moments, atmosphere and the feeling of being present. His early experience photographing skateboarders and documenting trips became an important foundation for a photographic style that combines documentary observation with an intimate, youthful and often nostalgic sensibility.

His images move freely between portraiture, landscape, fashion, still life and everyday life. Film photography remains an important part of his visual language, with grain, imperfections, low light and light leaks contributing to the character of his images. This analogue quality reinforces the sense of immediacy and memory that runs through his personal work.

Alongside his personal photography, Boer works extensively on editorial and commercial projects for fashion, lifestyle and cultural brands. His portfolio includes portrait, swimwear, fashion and product commissions, with recent projects for brands and subjects including Noam Beer, Anaye Studios, Belamer Studio and Séance. His commercial work retains the same spontaneous and documentary sensibility found in his personal photography.

Publishing is also an important part of Marcel Boer's practice. His work has appeared in independent photography publications, including Meanwhile In Nº1, an annual publication presenting his photographs of portraits, landscapes and skateboarding. The publication was produced as a limited edition of 150 hand-numbered and signed copies, with all images captured on film.

Among his most notable photography books is ORO, a fine art publication presenting Boer's photographic universe through a carefully edited collection of images. The book reflects his interest in documentary observation, analogue photography and the beauty of spontaneous moments. ORO is part of Boer's ongoing relationship with independent photographic publishing and is available in signed editions.

Marcel Boer's work has also been featured in contemporary photography platforms such as PhotoVogue, where his practice is described across genres including still life, documentary, portraiture, nature and fashion. His images have appeared in independent magazines and editorial projects, further establishing his position within the contemporary photography and publishing scene.
