Claire Tabouret is a French contemporary artist known for her evocative figurative paintings exploring identity, memory, intimacy and human relationships. Born in Pertuis, France, in 1981, she studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris before developing an international career between France and Los Angeles.

Her work often depicts children, women, couples and groups of figures suspended in ambiguous environments, somewhere between memory, dream and reality. Drawing on archival photographs, personal memories and found imagery, Tabouret creates enigmatic scenes that appear detached from a precise time or place.

Her distinctive visual language is built through layers of diluted paint, expressive brushstrokes and luminous colours. Acidic and synthetic tones coexist with earthy, muted shades, creating an atmosphere that can feel simultaneously intimate, nostalgic and unsettling.

Although painting remains central to her practice, Claire Tabouret also works across monotypes, works on paper, sculpture, bronze and ceramics. Her practice continues to investigate the body, representation, vulnerability and the complex ways in which individuals relate to one another.

Claire Tabouret has exhibited internationally in major museums, galleries and institutions, including the Grand Palais in Paris, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes, the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, Palazzo Cavanis during the Venice Biennale and the Pinault Collection. Her work is held in prominent international collections, including the Centre Pompidou and the Pinault Collection.

For collectors, artists and enthusiasts of contemporary art, Claire Tabouret's books offer an important insight into a practice where painting, photography, memory and the human figure constantly intersect.
